TOWNSVILLE PREMIERE
PUNKROCK by Simon Stephens
Directed by Terri Brabon
PUNKROCK follows the lives of a group of students in their final months at a prestigious English grammar school. When new girl Lilly arrives, she must learn quickly how things operate here. She forms close friendships and falls in love. But as they frantically prepare for their mock exams, these teens struggle with the pressures of an ever-changing future.
They may have the world at their feet but they also carry its weight on their shoulders.
"Everything human beings do finishes up bad in the end.
Everything good human beings ever make is built on something monstrous."
A must-see for both young and old, PunkRock is a remarkable coming-of-age drama, written by the award-winning Simon Stephens (The Curious Incident of the Dog in the NightTime) and performed in Townsville for the very first time and featuring the talents of TheatreiNQ's next generation, The Bridge Project.
"Powerful and compelling ... evokes the twilight world of the teenager with scary vividness ..."
